A lifelong passion for laundry: young boy peering with fascination through the porthole glass of a front-loading washing machine

A passion that started in childhood: peering through the porthole glass of a front-loader, mesmerised by rhythmic wash cycles, and finding genuine joy in the craft of immaculate linen.

Our Story

From Childhood Fascination to Exclusive Hotel Laundry Partner

I have always loved doing laundry: it has been a true personal passion of mine since I was a boy. Sitting on the floor in front of a front-loader washing machine, watching the rhythmic tumble of fresh wash cycles and experiencing the crisp perfection of freshly washed linen brought me genuine joy. While most people view laundry as an inconvenient chore, for me it has always been an art and a craft.

An Airbnb host since 2021: Having managed Airbnb properties and their laundry in Langebaan since 2021, I learned first-hand exactly what guests notice, feel, and expect from their bed linens and bath sheets to award a five-star review. It’s never just about washing fabric; it’s about protecting the host's hard-earned reputation and vital linen asset value.

Advising local accommodation owners: Over time, local hotel and guest house owners frequently phoned me asking how to tackle specific stains, coastal sunscreen discolouration , and stubborn fabric issues that traditional laundromats were unable or unwilling to solve.

Spa laundry & The Linen Studio: When I was asked to assist with commercial spa laundry (with its notoriously difficult essential oils, heavy saturation, and delicate textiles), I decided to found The Linen Studio as a specialised commercial offering.

Taking over hotel laundry: Soon after, a leading Langebaan hotel approached me to resolve problem linen that their existing commercial laundry repeatedly failed on and ruined. Within a few months of proving our consistency, 60°C thermal disinfection, and immaculate roller-ironed flatwork, we took over their entire hotel laundry operation. Today, Laundr is proud to stand as the Exclusive Partner to one of Langebaan's Premier Hotels.

To serve our premier hotel partner alongside local accommodation hosts and residential clients, we expanded into our dedicated commercial facility in Middedorp. Today, Laundr combines heavy-duty LG Giant commercial capacity with the personal care and watchful eye of an owner-led boutique.

"When a host hands us their linen, they are trusting us with their five-star reviews. That's a responsibility I take personally on every single load."

Dedicated batch processing: Your items are washed in their own dedicated drum (never mixed)
LG Giant commercial dryers: High-volume air movement dries linens efficiently without harsh fabric wear
Reduced mechanical strain: Direct Drive motors preserve the thread count of luxury Egyptian cotton

Specialist Finishing & Bulk Care

Rotary Ironing & Gentle Low-Heat Drying

Great hospitality linen isn't just clean; it looks and feels crisp. Flatwork passes through our commercial rotary roller iron for a smooth hotel-grade finish, while delicate bulk items receive custom low-heat attention.

Commercial rotary roller iron: Delivers crisp, hotel-ready sheets and pillowcases without scorching
Dedicated heat pump dryer: Specially reserved for larger bulk items (duvet inners, down, and delicate items) requiring low-temperature moisture extraction
Loft preservation: Feather and down inners dry safely with full loft restoration and zero clumping
Garment hand-ironing: Personal shirts, dresses, and trousers are hand-ironed with tailored care

Accountability & Peace of Mind

Personal Custody. No Impersonal Barcodes.

We know how much you value your clothing and linen investments. We don't affix intrusive barcodes to your luxury garments or Airbnb sheets. Instead, we rely on thorough personal intake and strict operational integrity.

Personal Intake Stocktake: We take physical stock of every piece handed in, noting item counts and specific care requirements.
Dedicated Batch Isolation: Your items are never co-mingled with another client's wash. Every order stays strictly independent throughout washing and drying.
Hand Inspection & Handover: Before packaging, items are counted and verified against the intake log to ensure every single piece is returned to you complete.
